Day Three
Today is Sunday. It's usually a slow day in our household. And today was no different.
INSPIRATION=HOPE
I was inspired at church today by a woman who talked about how she was working on overcoming her shyness. She said this right after telling everyone that she had been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She doesn't have long to live, yet she is working on overcoming a weakness. What an inspiration to us all who have trouble committing to working on our weaknesses when we have a whole lifetime ahead of us. Maybe that's part of the problem... we feel like we have a loooooong time to work things out, so what's the hurry. I am thankful for her example of showing HOPE.
DINNER=COMFORT FOOD
Josh picked out dinner today. He chose Chicken and Stuffing Casserole, mashed potatoes and green beans. Then he left and took a nap and didn't help with it at all. But at least he had the manners to apologize for not being there to help. It was good food.
MY CHILDREN=HAPPINESS
Each of my children had a good thing happen in their lives this past week.
Child number one, the pregnant one, finished tying the baby quilt. Now I just have to bind it and we will have a beautiful baby quilt made by a talented mother daughter team!
Child number two, the senior college student, got to meet a real live movie star. Sean Astin was in her town filming a movie about rugby. She knew someone who knew someone who was working on the set. So she and a few friends were able to watch part of the filming and get a photo op. See her blog for a photo of her and Sean.
Child number three, the freshman snare drummer, marched his first show in Bama's "Million Dollar Band". He said it was really cool and there were over 93,000 people there.
And Child number four had a great happy day at school on Friday when he realized that he didn't have to be friends with people who treated him like dirt. No one got mad at him, no one told him to buzz off. And he was happy! (Yes, I know the picture is blurry. He kept moving when he was laughing! And I'm not patient enough to wait for the right shot. Got to get this blog posted!)
RELIEF SOCIETY=SISTERHOOD
Today, as first counselor in the Relief Society Presidency, I conducted my first Relief Sociey meeting. 12 years of experience of getting up in front of people made it easy for me. What's hard is feeling like I belong there, but today, I felt it. I do belong there. I felt a connection with the women of our Relief Society, my sisters.

That's a funny picture of Josh. I'm glad he's okay.
