Holes

Somebody recently shared this poem with me. It is very thought provoking. It's
Portia Nelson’s “There’s A Hole In My Sidewalk

Chapter 1

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter 2

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter 3

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit … but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter 4

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter 5

I walk down another street.

I also liked another quote by the author: “I don’t know what I want sometimes, but I know that I want to know what I want.”

Just me trying to figure my life out.

But you know, life is good. I can see God's hand in my life and I know that everything is going to be okay.

I've had some good personal things happen in my world of music. I think I'm going to be okay there. I can do this. I can get on stage and be a musician. Nobody is forcing me to do this. I like playing music. I like losing myself in the music; it's the only way I can do it now.
